Cultural Action
In 2011
Spectacle of Earth is a public art movement which integrates a series of projects idealized by artist Denise Milan and coordinated by art educators Rosa Iavelberg, Regina Barros and Carla Govêa. The project proposes the integration of the human being to the universe through the knowledge of the stones, mainly the Blue Stone, planet Earth.
In 2010, the Cultural Action of Spectacle of Earth was held with the participation of the communities of Heliópolis. This year, Grajaú and Jaguaré also embraced the project. For the first time in the city of São Paulo, these three communities got together through art, forming thus a crystalline network. The initiative gathers more than 1,250 children and teenagers who dialogued and learned about the stone during the months preceding the Procession of Precious Lives, moment of celebration of the movement.

The Opera of Stones’ project happened not only on stage. The Parade of Precious Lives was the educational act and happened with the support of art educators who for months taught the youth of Heliópolis community. It took place at Independence Park outside SESC Ipiranga, after a Kites workshop, in the afternoon of April 22nd 2010, prior to the Opera’s premiere on Stage. It’s main objectives where to give voice to these children as they represented the Stones of Brazil, and enabled them to reflect about the environmental problems our Earth. It all happened in the altar of the Brazilian Independence, where each kite/stone flew along with a balloon where the earth and the sun were stamped.
